Those that owned homes in neighborhoods that flooded during the storm might be among the worst off. Unless you have or are able to borrow funds to rebuild your home on your own, FEMA, Road Home, Insurance companies are not likely to award you enough money to rebuild. It's disgraceful . . .they shouldn't call it a reward. This is money that the Federal government and insurance companies OWE the people of New Orleans!! All the trickery and semantic games that insurance companies are playing with homeowners is immoral. Wind vs. water damage, flooding vs. rainwater, the point is homeowners are getting pennies on the dollar as compensation from insurance policies that some of them have paid into for 30+ years. Sure, blame elderly people for not knowing they had wind coverage but not flooding coverage. No one would have needed flooding coverage had the Army Corp done their job in the first place. Army Corp. errors deserve adequate Federal responses. $10 Billion for Road Home Program rebuilding is a joke. The Gov't spends that much of OUR money on a few weeks in Iraq.
We need to demand that the Gov't spends our money to help the citizens of this city and this country, and cease to brutalize, occupy, and oppress our brothers and sisters around the world.
